Boston jazz legend, Fred
Taylor, will be Steve Schwartz’s Special Guest on “Jazz on WGBH
with Steve Schwartz,” WGBH 89.7 FM, Friday April 15 from 8:00 PM to
12:00 Midnight.
Fred is currently Entertainment Director of Scullers Jazz Club, one
of the best hazz clubs in the Greater Boston area. He was
co-owner and operator of two of Boston’s legendary jazz
clubs, The Jazz Workshop (check out
this bootleg recording of Miles Davis at the establishment
circa 1973) and Paul’s Mall (where Bob Marley played arguably his
first US show that same year). Those venues, along with the late
lamented Storyville and Pooh's Pub were the backbone of Boston's
jazz scene for years. He also created the Tanglewood
Jazz Festival.
Fred will share his fascinating musical history with Steve
Schwartz. The journey spans a period of time from the late
‘40s to the very present.
